The Court of Final Appeal hears:

  • appeals as of right from any final judgment of the Court of Appeal, where the matter in dispute amounts to or is worth $1 million or more; and
  • appeals which are at the discretion of the Court of Appeal or the Court of Final Appeal in any other civil matter if, in the opinion of either court, the question involved in the appeal is one which, because of its great general or public importance, or otherwise, ought to be submitted to the Court of Final Appeal for decision.

Leave ( permission) to appeal to the Court of Final Appeal is required. No appeal can be admitted unless leave to appeal has been granted either by the Court of Appeal or the Court of Final Appeal.
