3. I work night shifts and cannot watch my favourite television programmes when they are shown. Can I record them so that I can watch them when I am off from work?

Yes. The Copyright Ordinance allows the recording of television programmes for the purposes of time-shifting. Note, however, that such recording can only be made for private and domestic use, and solely for the purpose of enabling the television programme to be viewed at a more convenient time (see section 79 of the Copyright Ordinance ).
