6. Suspension from employment

An employer may without notice or payment in lieu suspend from employment any employee for a period not exceeding 14 days:

  1. as a disciplinary measure for any reason for which the employer could have dismissed summarily (see “Summary dismissal”);
  2. pending the employer’s decision as to whether or not the employee should be dismissed summarily; or
  3. pending the outcome of any criminal proceedings against the employee arising out of or connected with his employment (and the 14-day suspension may be extended until the conclusion of the criminal proceedings).

An employee so suspended may choose to terminate the contract of employment without notice or payment in lieu.
